The first ninety lots were cut in 1927 but thick bush and limestone outcrops kept building slow until the 1950s, when Weaponess Road filled in and the suburb was almost complete by the 1970s. The ground is the Spearwood system at its shallowest: a thin skin of yellow sand over Tamala limestone that comes to the surface in retaining walls and garden beds across the suburb. The green space is unusual for a suburb this close to the city.
