Pest management · Wangara WA 6065 · 10 minutes from our Warwick base

Pest management in Wangara, for the sheds, yards and lunchrooms of the northern industrial hub.

Wangara is the north side's industrial engine: warehouses, workshops, trade suppliers, food manufacturers and car yards between Wanneroo Road, Ocean Reef Road and Gnangara Road, with the Wanneroo Markets on Prindiville Drive. Pest management here is a documented program for business owners and facility managers, not a one-off spray.

Why Wangara gets the pests it gets

Wangara was laid out as a light industrial estate from the 1980s onward and it has kept filling in ever since along Prindiville Drive, Berriman Drive, Dellamarta Road, Buckingham Drive and Hartman Drive. The building stock is tilt-up concrete and steel-portal sheds on slab-on-ground, with attached brick or framed office fronts, mezzanines, roller doors and hardstand yards. Only a small pocket of homes remains. The ground is deep, well-drained sand over the Gnangara groundwater mound, which suits ant super-colonies under hardstand and gives termites a dry-season moisture source in irrigated verges and landscaping beds. Slab penetrations for plumbing and cable trays are the termite entry points we check on any office front with timber framing or fit-out.

The pest pressure in Wangara comes from what the estate does. Food manufacturers, wholesalers and the Wanneroo Markets carry stored product moths and beetles, and any building with a lunchroom or a loading dock has cockroaches and rodents looking for the same warmth and crumbs. Roller doors that never quite seal, pallet racking, stacked stock and the vacant lots and drainage sumps toward Gnangara Road give rats and mice cover and a corridor between tenancies. Car yards and landscaping suppliers on the Wanneroo Road frontage bring in pigeons, black house spiders and redbacks under stock. We build each program around the site: external rodent stations on a numbered plan, cockroach gel and dust programs in lunchrooms and wet areas, and monitoring records that satisfy an auditor or a landlord.

What we treat most in Wangara

The Wangara pest short-list.

Termites

Timber-framed office fronts, mezzanines and fit-outs on slab-on-ground with untreated penetrations, and irrigated landscaping against the slab. Inspections to AS 4349.3 and management systems to AS 3660.2, documented for the owner or the lease. Termite inspection.

Coastal brown ants

Super-colonies under hardstand, kerbs and paved yards that trail into office kitchens and staff areas. Slow-acting non-repellent products and baits, APVMA-registered and applied to label, collapse the colony rather than moving it next door. Ant management.

Rats and mice

Loading docks, roller-door gaps, pallet racking and the vacant lots off Gnangara Road. A numbered external station program with a site plan, service log and proofing advice, run to a schedule your auditor can read. Commercial programs.

Stored product pests

Indian meal moth, flour beetles and warehouse beetles in food manufacturers, wholesalers and the markets precinct on Prindiville Drive, plus German cockroaches in lunchrooms and canteens. Pheromone monitoring, source tracing and targeted treatment inside a documented program. Cockroach management.

What's active now

This season in Wangara.

Spring in Wangara: ants march into lunchrooms as the hardstand warms, German cockroach numbers climb in canteens and wet areas, and pigeons start nesting on awnings and racking. Rodent activity shifts from the roof space to the yard as nights warm, so it is the right time to reset station plans. Any older office front with timber framing should have an AS 4349.3 inspection booked before the November swarm season.

Sep – NovSpring: ants and spiders wake up

Warmer soil brings coastal brown ants and redbacks out. Good time for a perimeter treatment before summer.

Nov – AprSummer: termite swarm season

Subterranean termites swarm on warm, humid evenings. Sandy northern-suburb soils and garden timber raise the risk.

Mar – MayAutumn: cockroaches move indoors

German and Australian cockroaches follow warmth and food into kitchens as nights cool.

May – AugWinter: rodents in the roof

Rats and mice look for warm voids. Sealing entry points now beats baiting later.

Questions

Asked in Wangara.

Do you run documented commercial pest programs in Wangara?

Yes. Most Wangara work is a scheduled program for warehouses, food businesses, workshops and showrooms: external rodent stations on a numbered site plan, cockroach and ant treatment in lunchrooms and wet areas, and a service report after every visit. Records are kept in the form a food hygiene auditor, landlord or facility manager expects. Commercial pest management.

Are Wangara buildings at risk from termites?

Less than a timber-framed home, but not zero. Slab-on-ground sheds with timber-framed office fronts, mezzanines and fit-outs are the risk, especially where landscaping and retic sit hard against the slab. An inspection to AS 4349.3 covers the framed areas and penetrations, and a management system to AS 3660.2 is installed where it is warranted.

Why do ants keep coming into our staff kitchen?

Wangara's sandy hardstand and kerbs are ideal coastal brown ant habitat, and a super-colony can run under several tenancies. Repellent sprays at the door split the colony and push it along the building. We use non-repellent products and baits, APVMA-registered and applied to label, so workers carry the treatment back to the nest. Read more.

Can you treat stored product pests in a food warehouse?

Yes. Moths and beetles in stored product are traced to the infested line first, then managed with pheromone monitoring, stock rotation advice and targeted treatment that fits the site's food hygiene program. Rodent proofing at roller doors and docks is part of the same visit, because the two problems share the same buildings.

How quickly can you get to Wangara, and what is the investment?

About ten minutes from Warwick via Wanneroo Road or Hepburn Avenue, so same-day for active pests is usually possible. Commercial programs are quoted per site after a walk-through. For the homes in the residential pocket, a typical three-bedroom home, internal and external, sits in the $250 to $350 range. Every job is quoted itemised in writing. See the investment guide.
