Sorrento runs from the ocean at Marmion Marine Park up the ridge to Marmion Avenue. The foreshore streets sit on young white Quindalup dune sand; a few hundred metres back the ground becomes shallow yellow sand over Tamala limestone, the hard cap that gives the suburb its slope and its sea views.
