Connolly was developed in the late 1980s as a golf course estate, bounded by Shenton Avenue, the Mitchell Freeway, Hodges Drive and Marmion Avenue. The homes are slab-on-ground double brick with tiled roofs on timber framing, larger along Country Club Boulevard and the fairway edges and more modest toward the boundary roads, and most are now thirty-five years old, which is past the life of any original termite barrier. The ground is Spearwood yellow sand over Tamala limestone; the resort's Quarry nine plays through old limestone quarry faces, which tells you how close the rock is.
