Jolimont was subdivided in 1891 and its primary school opened in 1905, so the older streets off Jersey Street and Hay Street carry early twentieth-century weatherboard and brick homes with jarrah floors and timber roof framing, mixed with post-war brick-and-tile, newer townhouses and the St Ives retirement village on the eastern side.
